Organising your List

ADDING SECTIONS AND NOTES

You can add new notes and sections to your list using the Add button

The Add menu is expanded in a Leganto reading list. The options to add a new section or new note are highlighted.

To indent a section click the 3 dots (...) at the right hand of the section and select Indent section from the drop-down menu. You can also delete the section from this menu.

If you want to re-arrange your sections make sure you're in Compact view and hover over the left side of the section you'd like to move, 6 dots should appear. Click on the dots and drag the section where you'd like it to go.

ORGANISING CITATIONS

To move citations around, hover over the left edge of the citation you want to move and 6 dots should appear. You can then drag the citation where you want it to go.

You can also also move or copy citations to elsewhere in the list (or to another list) by clicking the 3 dots (...) at the right hand of the citation, clicking the Move item or Copy item option and selecting the list and section you'd like the citation to be moved or copied to. This can be helpful when organising a list containing a lot of citations. From this menu you can also delete the citation.

Creating shareable links

In Leganto you can create shareable links to your list as whole, individual sections and individual citations in your list. This can be helpful for directing students to readings for specific weeks or assignments in MyDundee without risking copyright infringement. To create a shareable link look for the 'share' symbol at the top of your list or on the right hand of the section or citation that you want to share. This will bring up some options and you can copy the links that you need

Editing citations

To make edits and add notes to individual citations, start by clicking the three dots on the right hand side of the citation you want to edit and click Edit item

Sample citation with general menu expanded. The edit item option is highlighted.

From the edit screen you can change the material-type of the item, for instance you may want to change the item type from Book to Book Chapter so that chapter details can be added, see more details about that here

You will see several different tabs in the item details where you can add more information about the resource. There are four different tabs where you can make changes:

1. Item actions

  • add notes for your students

You can add hyperlinks and format notes to students on individual citations. Write your note and then highlight the text you would like to format and a limited set of options will appear

In the field is written read chapter 4 and the text has been highlighted to bring up formatting options. In the options menu are the symbols for bold, italics, underline and hyperlink.

2. Links & availability

  • see existing links to materials and physical stock provided by the library
  • add URLs and files - you should not add links to, or files containing copyrighted content where you are not prompted for your University of Dundee login details here as this is a breach of copyright law. If you add links or files here these will be checked by the library and may be removed if they are not compliant with our copyright license. You can find out more here.
  • Report or hide library links that are no longer working - to do this hover over the link and select hide link or mark as broken. If you click to mark a link as broken you can add details of the issue with the link. This will send a report to the library who will investigate the problem and get back to you.
