Having issues with Turnitin and can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Don’t worry, we’re here to help!
Turnitin is the main tool that we use for you to submit text-based assignments. It allows staff to check your work for similarity, to give you feedback and a final mark.
We do not use Turnitin to check your work for the use of Artificial Intelligence. This is an optional feature of Turnitin that we have not enabled.
When you first use Turnitin, you will see the End User Licence Agreement. You are strongly advised to read this. Point 5 notes that you retain ownership of your work at all times (some students worry that uploading work to Turnitin will give Turnitin ownership of their work).
After you have agreed, Turnitin gives you a quick overview of the interface. We recommend you complete this overview, as you can't return to it once you have closed it.
This is a tool that helps students address plagiarism, citation and grammar issues while writing. It is owned by Turnitin, but staff can not see any of your work in it. It is purely for you.
