The Activity Stream works like a diary and notifies you of recent updates, announcements, and upcoming deadlines. It is highly recommended that you check this regularly as the Activity Stream is made up of institutional, organisational, and module updates and announcements.
Getting into the habit of checking your Activity Stream will ensure that you are up to date with module deadlines, internal messages, and key activities that will likely be of interest to you. The up-to-the-minute activity stream on your Activity page lets you jump directly into course actions.
You can also receive reminders and view pending deadlines or overdue assignments, tests, and graded discussions. Whenever your instructor grades or updates a grade for an assignment, test, or graded discussion, it will appear in your Activity Stream.
The Activity Stream is made up of up to four sections to help you prioritise and scan your list quickly:
Important – Located at the top of the stream, this section contains everything that requires your immediate attention, such as overdue assignments, tests, and graded discussions. The number of items here makes up the count shown next to your name. If you dismiss an item in this section, it cannot be retrieved—even after signing out and back in. Dismissing a stream item does not affect the original content; it only removes the notification.
Upcoming – This section, second on the stream, displays your top five events due in the next seven days, such as upcoming assignments or events. Select Show More for a complete list. This section won’t appear if there are no upcoming events.
Today – Next on the stream, this section shows all updates and events due in the next 24 hours, including institution-wide announcements such as emergency notifications and any instructor-added announcements.
Recent – This section contains updates and announcements from the past seven days that previously appeared in the Today section. Items are listed in date order, from newest to oldest.
The information you’ll see here is determined by your notification settings, you can learn how to edit the notifications in the Activity Stream, email, and push notifications (if you use the app) by reviewing the adjust notification settings guide.
