Adding Draft Coach to Word Online
To use Draft Coach, you will have to add it to Word Online. You must use WordOnline, you can not use the installed version of Word with Draft Coach.
- Go to Word Online. It's easiest if you go first to your student email, making sure you are logged in with your student account, then use the "waffle" menu to open Word

- In Word, check to see if Turnitin's Draft Coach has already been added. (A). If it hasn't, then select the Addins button, and search it for Draft Coach. (B)

- If you try to do this when you are logged into a personal Word account, you will have to sign in to your University of Dundee Word account before you can install Draft Coach.
Using Draft Coach
Draft Coach offers you 3 reports:
- A similarity report:
This gives you the same information to the similarity report you will see in your TUrnitin submission, though it does look a little different
- A Citations report:
This will highlight cited material in the essay, which doesn't have a linked item in the reference list, and also items in the reference list that don't appear to be cited in the main body of your work
- A grammar checker
This can help you find any errors in your grammar.
All of these reports will give you pointers to edits you may wish to make, but you have to decide what you need to do - it will not make the changes for you.
Remember: These reports will just give you information. You have to decide what to do. If you are unsure about the report, talk to the module team, your academic librarian, or to the Academic Skills Centre
If you prefer to use the Word App.
If you start all of your work in OneDrive, or in Word Online, it will give you the benefit of auto saving it constantly, and ensuring you only have 1 version. Once you have created it, you can use the Word App as you work, and switch to the Online version to get the Draft Coach reports.
