Cite Them Right

The Library & Learning Centre provides an overview of referencing techniques and standards via the Cite Them Right online resource.

Or if you prefer we also have hard copies of the Cite Them Right book at all of our libraries, and an eBook version available:

Managing your references

Reference management software can help you keep track of your references by allowing you to export search results from databases such as Scopus, Medline, and Google Scholar into one central place. They also can assist with the formatting of references, with most software working with Word providing for direct insertion of a citation and reference list into a document.

EndNote

The University of Dundee supports the use of EndNote, providing licenses to staff and students for the full desktop version of the software. More information about downloading EndNote and instructional videos can be found on our EndNote LibGuide.

Other Reference Management Software

There are other free reference management options available, with the most popular being Mendeley and Zotero.  It is important to find the system which works best for you and generally is recommended to just stick with one system to avoid add-in conflicts on your computer.
