Digimap on YouTube

Welcome to the Digimap Collection LibGuide

Digimap contains maps and geospatial data for the UK region. You can find many kinds of data and maps, such as:

  • Ordnance survey
  • Historic
  • Environment
  • Aerial
  • Lidar

You can create your own maps of an area and annotate them, as well as download data to use in GIS/CAD.

Important note: In order to be able to use Digimap, you have to register first.

How to use Digimap

First of all, you have to choose the kind of data you are interested in (e.g. Environment). After that you can choose either ROAM, where you can create your own map of a certain area and add annotations, or DOWNLOAD data to use in GIS/CAD.

In ROAM view, you can select an area, add annotations to it and save or print your map, from the top left corner.

To add annotations, you can click on the Map Tools button on the top right, and select Annotation Tools. As you can see, there is plenty you can do.

Download data

To DOWNLOAD data and use it in your GIS/CAD application, you have to follow the three steps displayed on the left:

  1. You have to choose the area that you are interested in, using one of the tools provided.
  2. Then, you have to choose which data you want to download by ticking the corresponding box
  3. When you are done, you click on the green button Add to Basket on the bottom left corner.

Once you have pressed the Add to Basket button, a window should appear, displaying the data you are about to download, and requesting a name for the download. The files will be sent to the email address you registered with. If you want to send them to another email address, press Change email. Once you are done, click the  Request Download button.
