Having issues with online exams and can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Don’t worry, we’re here to help!
A timetable of invigilated assessments taking place during the official University exam diet should be available from Examinations Office – View Your Exam Timetable.
Invigilated online assessments taking place outwith the official University exam diet will be scheduled and communicated to you by your School and/or your module teaching team.
Invigilated online assessments will likely take place in one of the following locations on campus (see the campus map for building locations). The location of the online assessment should be communicated to you but if you’re unsure you should always check with your module teaching team.
If you are registered with disability services and have a recommendation for extra time, you may be allocated to a different location from the main assessment, so please make sure to check.
Make yourself familiar with the venue and location on campus prior to the day of your assessment.
Familiarise yourself with the online assessment system that will be used. If you are unsure what assessment system will be used, or about the structure of your assessment, speak to your module teaching team.
Ensure you know your University of Dundee login details before arriving at the exam – don’t rely on your mobile phone/smart device as you won’t be allowed to take these with you to your desk.
This one may sound obvious but double check the date, time and location of the assessment!
Arrive at the venue in plenty of time as the assessment will start promptly at the advertised time. Don’t enter the IT Suite before being told to do so by an invigilator (you should wait in the corridor outside of the IT Suites). Respect others by entering and leaving the IT Suite area SILENTLY – there may be other assessments, exams or classes running.
Leave all coats and bags at the front of the room and switch all mobile phones, tablets and smart devices off when invited into the IT Suite by the invigilator.
Ensure you take your student ID card, a pen and any other permitted/required materials (e.g. a calculator). No paper or notes should be taken to your desk, unless otherwise instructed.
Listen to the invigilators. The senior invigilator should make a standard announcement prior to the start of your assessment running through the key University Regulations for the Conduct of Examinations.
Unless otherwise instructed, do not login to the PC with your own account. For every invigilated online assessment a login instruction sheet will be placed in front of the PC and a username and password to login to the PC will be provided in Stage 1 of the instructions. (The PC login details will change for each assessment you take, so make sure you check the sheet every time.)
Read the instructions you are given. If you encounter an issue at any stage, or have a query, raise your hand and ask an invigilator – don’t ask the person next to you!
With regards to academic misconduct – invigilators have seen it all! Ensure you adhere to exam conditions at all times – this includes only looking at your own screen during the assessment.
Make sure you write your details on all assessment paperwork to be submitted and do not remove any paperwork from the venue.
Remove all personal belongings from the desk, including student ID cards, pens and calculators (where permitted). Please also ensure that you remove any items such as tissues, earplugs, drinks bottles etc – use the bins provided.
Leave the IT Suite SILENTLY as there may be other assessments, exams or classes running.
