EThOS is a project by the British Library which aims to give access to all Phd theses from UK institutions whether paper based or electronic. Theses are digitised on request, & once digitised are available for download by anyone. As these are digitised on request, coverage can be patchy/surprising in some areas.

Metadata (information about the theses) comes from over 1000 colleges, universities, and research institutions. OATD currently indexes over 2,500,000 theses and dissertations.
