The Victoria and Albert Museum was founded in London in 1852, but on 15 September 2018, the V&A opened its second location right here in Dundee! The museum works closely with the University, particularly the School of Art and Design, and has a number of free galleries open to the public.

During lockdown, our University of Dundee Museum Curator, Matthew Jarron, made a series of virtual guided walks of public art and design in different parts of Dundee.
He used Google Streetview and photos from Public Art Dundee volunteers, Dundee City Council and private collections. Watch of some of these videos to get to know different areas of your new city!

Yes, we do deep fry Mars bars and pizzas in Scotland, but that's not the full extent of our cuisine!
Our beautiful, green and fertile country (rain is good for some things!) has amazing natural produce, from world-class fish and seafood, to the famous Aberdeen Angus beef. And how about Scotch whisky, heather honey and of course, our national dish, haggis! Locally, Tayside has one of the best climates to grow succulent soft fruits such as strawberries, raspberries and blueberries - try them when they're back in season next June - there are even farms nearby where you can pick your own!

The Old Course at St Andrews is the oldest golf course in the world - first played on in the early 15th century - and is only half and hour from Dundee. Who invented golf?
If you leave Dundee by car or bus, heading along Riverside Drive towards Perth, look to your left after you're past the airport - you'll see some of these 'muckle' (big) beasts in a field happily munching on grass!

Robert Burns - or, Rabbie Burns, is Scotland's national, much-loved poet.
He lived from 1759 -1796, writing in the Scots language about everything from love to witches to mice!
Hopefully you will have a chance to attend a Burns' Supper while you are here - a traditional Scottish celebration of the poet, held around the anniversary of his birthday - 25th January.
