Domestic violence or abuse can happen to anyone. Find out how to recognise the signs and where to get help.

Domestic violence

Domestic violence, also called domestic abuse, includes physical, emotional and sexual abuse in couple relationships or between family members. Domestic violence can happen against women and against men, and anybody can be an abuser.

Domestic abuse can include, but is not limited to, the following:

  •  Coercive control (a pattern of intimidation, degradation, isolation and control with the use or threat of physical or sexual violence)
  • Psychological and/or emotional abuse
  • Physical or sexual abuse
  • Financial Abuse
  • Harrasment and stalking
  • Online or digital abuse
