Finding the most important journal articles

  • Some indexes allow you to narrow your results to the most highly cited journal articles, or to particular types of journal article, such as Review articles.  An example is below, from the Web of ScienceWeb of science showing highly cited articles

Finding 'recommended' journal articles

Library Search offers a service which helps locate journal articles with a similar subject matter.  Called BX Article Recommender, this service works by matching your results with the results found by researchers at Universities worldwide.  These anonymised 'recommendations' can help to broaden your initial search query, and provide new discoveries and insights.  

 

Find these recommendations by looking at the full details of an article of interest to you  in Library Search.  On the right hand side, you will see 'Related reading' showing other articles viewed by researchers who viewed your initial result - see an illustration below:
