Dawsonera - Downloading, printing and other features

 

  • Books may be downloaded Dawson ebook  download icon or read online  using these icons on the title page
  • Downloaded books will remain on your device for one or more days, according to the loan period shown (note that they can be downloaded again).  Adobe Acrobat Reader is needed to view the book (a link to the software is provided on Dawsonera)
  • Printing or Saving / Copying pages is restricted according to agreements with various publishers, and can only be done from Read Online mode (not from a downloaded book). 
  • To print, or save,  you must Sign In (use Shibboleth login), and click on the Print or Copy options.  You will be 'credited' with a number of pages, and you will then be able to print  or save one page at a time
  • When you are Signed in, you can also take advantage of your personal Dawsonera area - My Account.  Here, you can save titles to your Bookshelf (use the star on the top right of book title details); make & save notes when you are reading a text, and save any searches you make.

BASIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOWNLOADING TO APPLE DEVICES

  • Install Adobe Reader or Bluefire Reader from the Apple App Store
  • Find the book on Dawsonera and opt to download rather than read online
  • If the ebook you are downloading is an EPUB format a URLLink.acsm link will appear within your browser, click on “Open in Bluefire Reader” to complete the download.
  • The title will download and the Bluefire Reader app will open.
  • The ebook will show in the My Library section of the Bluefire reader app with the option to “Read Now” or to “Read Later”
  • If the ebook you are downloading is a PDF format the download will not start automatically and you must click “For iPhone and iPad users click here to download”
  • Once the download is complete the pdf will load in another tab (this may take a few minutes) but in a form that will not be readable.  Select “Open in Adobe Reader” to open the eBook
  • The DRM statement will appear in the Adobe Reader app, click open to read the ebook
