Welcome to our Art and Media LibGuide for students and staff from the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design.

Liaison Support: On Wednesday afternoons from 1pm-5pm, Yvonne McKenzie (Assistant Librarian) will be located at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design Library, to assist DJCAD/University of Dundee students, research staff and academic staff with any subject discipline, or collection development queries they may have and to provide database tutorials/or training sessions as required. Hourly appointments can be booked for the Wednesday afternoon slots, by e-mailing doj-library@dundee.ac.uk or just pop in to the DJCAD Library, at the above times to discuss your query.

Material Connexion - A database of new materials and processes which includes over 7000 innovative materials in various categories covering disciplines such as interior design, industrial design, product design, textiles and architecture.

Personal accounts are free for University of Dundee students and staff - Use the Material ConneXion database highlighted link above to access, then follow the on screen prompts, or refer to the PDF "Material ConneXion - U. of Dundee - Database Getting Started Guide" for help logging in, or creating your account. Use your '@dundee.ac.uk' e-mail address and note your MC password should be at least 8 characters long, and include at least one letter and one number. If you have previously created an account with Material ConneXion, then sign in with your University of Dundee e-mail address and your Material ConneXion password.

NEWS UPDATE

 The Batsford Prize is an annual award for students across the subjects Fine and Applied Art, Fashion, Illustration and Children’s Illustration. New for 2018 was the introduction of an international illustration category, opening up the award for students from the whole world. The winner of each category received a £500 ($500 for the international category) cash prize and £500 books from Batsford and Pavilion Children’s Books for their institution. The winner of the Illustration category was Lauren Morsley, BDes Illustration, from the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design with a work entitled Music Celebration.  (A scrolling book jacket display, of the print books donated to the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design Library from this Batsford prize will be added later). Lyst - Free access to extensive fashion data for students. Lyst, is a global fashion search engine, that tracks more than 10 million global searches a month, crunching queries, page views and sales statistics and provides access to data about the fashion industry on a global and granular level. Fashion industry users, use this data to help them discover key insights about fashion and shopping trends and Lyst Outreach, have made the pledge that it will also be easily and freely accessible and have set up a data request form at: https://www.lyst.com/news/lyst-data-request/ which DJCAD students, professors and graduates can use to request access to their data.
